Forum Science Communication 2018, Bonn

‘Forum Science Communication’ is the largest conference in Germany about science communication. In our talk Marie Heidenreich and I introduced the participants to the bot infrastructure on Twitter. In addition we prepared our own Twitter bot (@ozeanforscher), using python. During the session all participants were able to use our bot via a jupyter notebook.

Dank Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing und KI-Algorithmen wird es in den Sozialen Netzwerken immer mehr Bots geben. Aber sind Bots genauso glaubwürdige Informationsquellen wie menschliche Wissenschaftskommunikatorinnen und -kommunikatoren? Wofür können sie eingesetzt werden? Welche ethischen Standards gilt es zu berücksichtigen? Woran lassen sich Bots online von Menschen unterscheiden? Und wie funktioniert so ein Bot überhaupt? Im Workshop tauchen die Teilnehmenden in die Geheimnisse der Wissenschaftskommunikation per Twitter-Bot ein und programmieren diese selbst in Python. Hierfür wird ein eigener Windows-oder Linux-Laptop benötigt.
